DELTA Goodrem will provide the musical “moment” at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.

The singer is expected to be joined by her idol Olivia Newton-John when the pair belt out a tune and showcase the best Australia has to offer at Carrara Stadium on Wednesday night.

Details of the opening ceremony are a closely guarded secret but News Corp can reveal the magical combination of Goodrem and Newton-John has been in the works for several months.

Dami Im will also perform in front of the packed 35,000-strong stadium that will include dignitaries Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Edward and VIP guests such as Chris Hemsworth and Mick Fanning. There’s also talk Hollywood star Margot Robbie will be involved in the ceremony.

“Olivia influenced my earliest years as an evolving artist and became the backbone of influence to living my life and heart as a proud Australian artist,” Goodrem has said of playing Newton-John, 69, in an upcoming television special.
